I gave a class at our Raleigh office called "AI Mythbusters." Most of what we hear about AI in this business is half right, and the class is my attempt to sort out which half.
It starts with three things to know about how these tools actually work:
- It has read almost everything. That's why it writes well and can explain nearly any topic.
- It knows nothing about your business. Not your listing, not your client, not your market - until you tell it.
- It would rather sound right than admit it doesn't know. Give it thin information and it will fill the gaps with confidence. You're the fact-checker. Always.
Then we take on the six myths I hear most:
- AI will replace real estate agents.
- My client data isn't safe with AI.
- AI doesn't write well.
- I don't have time to learn new tools.
- I can just use an AI "off-the-shelf" in my business.
- It's too complicated for me.
From there it gets practical. We cover how to tell if a tool is safe for client documents. Then we have AI read a stack of disclosures and point to the page behind each answer, and plan a showing day with it.
Walk through the slides. They work on a phone, too.
